The B M Birla Planetarium --HYDERABAD



The B M Birla Planetarium was inaugurated by Shri N.T. Rama Rao, the then Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh in 1985. This was a very important landmark for inculcating scientific temper amongst amateurs, lay men and students in particular.
The planetarium is acclaimed for its efforts and presentation of latest information and updating on the vast mysteries and inventions of the universe.
Not only it is one of the best attended Planetaria in the world, it has also been acclaimed to be amongst the very best in the world, and compared to Planetaria best rated in other parts of world i.e,  in Europe, the US, Far East, Soviet Republics and elsewhere. The cosmic presentations here have highlighted various mysteries of the Universe as they have unfolded-from Halley's comet through space explorations of the solar system to the riddles of Black Holes and the newly discovered dark energy.
This apart, special interactive sessions for students are organized. The Planetarium also conducts a popular course on Astronomy and Astrophysics. The Planetarium also regularly creates exhibitions on relavant topics.

Hindi : 7.30 PM
Planetarium is closed on last Thursday of every month.
On 2nd and last Friday of every month show starts fom 3PM
*Children below 4 years are not permitted in the Sky Theatre. 

The G P Birla Observatory
The GP Birla Observvatory  is an Indo-French Collaborative effort and is one of the few public observatories in India. The Observatory houses the C11 Telescope donated by Uranoscope of Paris.
Amateurs and interested persons could use the Observatory and see for themselves the marvels of the Universe and use the facility, for the purpose of disseminating interest in the subject. Lectures, Seminars and other such events around the Observatory are also planned. 

The G P Birla Observatory is now open for public. Interested persons can now gaze the stars, planets through this sophisticated telescope by taking prior appointment. This facility is available in the night provided sky is clear 7.00 PM to 8.30PM
