The undavalli caves  are located 6km from  Vijayawada on Vijayawada Amaravathi Road, near to Prakasam Barrage. 
Amaravathi the new capital of Andhra Pradesh State is 33 kms from Undavalli Caves.

Undavalli caves are associated with the Vishnukunda Kings 420 AD to 620 AD. The caves are dedicated to Anantha Padmanabha swami and Narasimha Swamy.
The Carving was made out of solid sandstone on a Hillside in the 4th and 5th centuries. A.D.There are several caves.The main attraction of this cave is gigantic statue of Lord Vishnu, Located on the Second Floor, which is about  5 meters long and is carved of a single block of Granite Rock.
The caves also hoard numerous shrines . Shines dedicated to Trimuthi ---Lord Brahma, Vishnu and Maheswar. The caves are example of primitive rock-cut monastery and Gupta Architecture.In the First Floor , we can see Buddhist  monastery and 1st floor  retains style of Buddhist  Sculptures.

The caves are  located in the Undavalli village in Tadepalli Mandal  in Guntur Districtin Andhra Pradesh, India, located on the banks of Krishna River,  are Example of Indian  Rock-cut architecture.
The skill and workmanship of the Craftsman  can be be understood  from the sculptures displayed on the walls.
In Rock-cut architecture in addition to making small statues from Rock,.Sculpting of 4 Storied building in single Rock is great and wonderful work which requires, worksmanship, patience and dedication.

Indian rock-cut architecture is truly a wonder of all times.
