The Bogibeel Bridge inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 25.12.2018 is a Great Mile stone for India.
1.The length of Bridge 4.94 Km , Second longest Rail- Road
Bridge in Asia, Longest in India built over Brahmaputra in Dibrughar District, of Assam State of North East Indi.
2. Life span of the Bridge 120years built fully welded, with
European standards.
3. The Bridge will have 3 lane top deck road and 2 line Rail
bridge. Reducing the distance between Assam
to Arunachal Pradesh .Delhi-Dibrugar train running time will reduce form
37 hours to 34 hours.
4.For the construction of bridge 80,000 tonnes of steel
plating including 354000 tonnes of steel from maharastra SAIL were utilized.
5. The location of bridge at a strategic point points out
crucial role it plays defence movement along India China Border in Arunachal
Pradesh. It shortens the distance by several hundreds of kms. In
case of emergencies it facilitates landing of fighter jets.
6. The foundation stone was laid by former prime Minister HD DevaGowda in 1997, work bagan in 2002 ,during former PM AB Vajapayee regime and in 2007 UPA declared the project as National Project making the funds availablity fast.7. The bridge costed 5960 Crores.
